Abstract: This is an ongoing vascular plant inventory list for the Flora of the Upper Verde River project. The study area is from Sullivan's Lake south of Paulden, Arizona at 4400ft (1341m) and just upstream from the headwater springs, downstream approximately 45mi (72km) to Tuzigoot Bridge near the town of Clarkdale at 3100ft(944 m), an elevation change of approximately 1300 ft(396m). The highest elevations in the study area occur at Packard Mesa, near the Verde Valley, at 4900ft(1494m). The study area includes the Verde stream banks, riparian zone and includes tributaries, their canyons or valleys and the surrounding rims, mesas and hills to a distance of approximately 1-1.5km(0.62mi) on both sides of the river, forming an area of approximately 37,065 acres (1500 hectares, 150km2, 58mi2). The main bulk of the project was completed as a thesis in partial fulfillment of a Master's of Science in Plant Biology at Arizona State University, was conducted from spring 2011 through spring of 2014 and included the collection of over 1900 specimens representing over 700 species from 92 families. Although the flora is likely nearly complete, a flora never truly is and species will be added for years to come. All are greatly encouraged to attempt to add to this list. If any additional species are encountered within the study area, please contact the author.
