Locality: Sarasota and Manatee Counties, Florida, USA
Abstract: The Sarasota-Manatee Ecoflora project is a citizen science based project to meaningfully engage Floridians in documenting and preserving the state’s native plant species as well as to assemble new, original observations and data on the state’s flora to better inform policy decisions about management and conservation of the state’s natural resources. This checklist was compiled from herbarium specimens and observations published on Symbiota that fall within the political boundaries of Sarasota and/or Manatee Counties, Florida, USA. The Ecoflora project was pioneered by New York Botanical Garden and has recently expanded to include Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, Chicago Botanic Gardens, Desert Botanical Garden, and Denver Botanic Garden thanks to funding by the Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS).
