It is east of County Road W62 (Aspen Avenue) and north of County Road B56 (Apricot Road). The fen was even larger at one time, but the northwest portion has been destroyed by drainage, cultivation and grazing. The fen is mapped as formed in organic material 18 to 52 inches deep over alluvial or glacial sediments. The fen is on the Paleozoic Plateau and in the Turkey River watershed.
