United States, Florida, Clarke, Goldflake is the marketing name for the cultivar 'USMECA67', bred in 1999-2000 by Ushio Sakazaki, Shiga, Japan, and patented in 2005 (US Plant Patent 15,777 P2). The patent indicates it is a hybrid of M. caespitosa (Cham.) Pennell and M. Dianthera (Sw.) Pennell, but both of those are now regarded as synonyms of M. procumbens (Mill.) Small. It is disitinguised by its vigorous, lo-growing, spreading habit and abundtant flowers produced over a long period. Athens: Univeristy of Georgia campus, Department of Horticulture Trial Gardens, on West Green Street, between Snelling Dining Commons and Wilson Pharmacy Building. Cultivated in cocntainer in trial garden. Herb 6 inches high. Corolla yellow with purple stripes. Submitted for trialing by Proven Winners, LLC.
