United States, Florida, Nassau, on the beach across the street from residence at 1619 N Fletcher Ave, near beach access 16N. Beach side of dune. Occurs infrequently along the beach on north end of island, becoming more common, dense and larger along the northern tip of the island. Taprooted annual herb 6-24 in tall. Stems succulent, slightly ridged; ridges pink-red along basal parts of stem. Leaves succulent, spine tipped. Floral bracteoles succulent, basally connate, spine tipped. Perianth green with a non-rigid, triangular apex.
