United States, Iowa, Allamakee, Union Township T100N R5W Section 27 NE4NW4SE4NW4. UTM(15T, NAD27): 627460 East, 4812134 North. Clear Creek Fish and Wildlife Management Area is located about 4.5 miles east/southeast of Dorchester. It is owned by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The soil in the rich fen portions of the complex is definitely a muck, some kind of medisaprist. Much of the Orion silt loam on both sides of the creek is found below on terraces. Bertrand silt loam is a fine-silty Typic Hapludalf and Chelsea loamy sand is an Argic Udipsapmment. This site is on the Paleozoic Plateau. Bromus ciliatus is locally common in the third rich fen from the south. The fen is west of Clear Creek. Assoc. with Carex...
