Tehama, Lyonsville 7.5' USGS quad. On the N side of Hwy 36, just E of Little Giant Mill Rd before the big turn in the highway. Small opening in the forest with Danthonia unispicata, Festuca idahoensis, Arctostaphylos patula, Calocedrus decurrens, Quercus kelloggii, Quercus chrysolepis. Light color clay soils. Nectary shape varies, square, to chevron to upside down chevron (heart), densely-orange-short-hairy. Plants much smaller than as described (12-30 cm).

Tehama, Devils Parade Ground 7.5' USGS quad. Found in a large volcanic opening across ridgeline with scattered boulders. Surrounding area scattered manzanitas, adjacent to a mixed conifer forest. Growing with grasses, small herbs. Widely scattered, few dense clusters. Level slopes. No canopy cover. Slight browsing of flowers, leaving only stalks. Petals bright Yellow., 1016m
