Growing in a grassy meadow along the creek bank and also along the somewhat dried out swales. Mixed in with other grasses, sedges, lodgepole pine, and corn lily. Inflorescence was in seed and a golden brown color, the bottom leaf was dried and shriveling, but the stem was still green. (Old name Hierochloe odorata), 1898m
