Collection Profile for: Calvin University Herbarium (CALVIN)
The Calvin University Herbarium (CALVIN) was founded in 1948 and contains approximately 16,000 specimens, of which over 6,000 have been imaged. Most holdings are from West Michigan (especially Kent Co. and Ottawa Co.) and Midwestern North America (incl. Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota) In addition CALVIN houses vouchers documenting the flora of the greater Grand Rapids area (especially to make comparisons to the floristic work of Emma Cole’s Grand Rapids Flora, 1901), the flora of the Calvin University Ecosystem Preserve and Native Gardens, and the aquatic vegetation of several lakes in the Grand Rapids region.
