Vascular plants of NE US and adjacent Canada
Stems weak, diffuse, branched, 1-4 dm; lvs alternate, long- petioled, the blade broadly triangular in outline, 1-3 cm, deeply divided into 3-5 obovate segments, these also lobed or deeply toothed; fls solitary on pedicels 3-10 mm opposite the lvs; cal 2 mm, the appendages irregularly developed, often missing from some sinuses; cor campanulate, white or bluish, 3 mm; fr much exceeding the persistent cal; cucullus small, persistent, at one end of the seed; 2n=18. Damp rich woods; Md. and se. Va. to w. Ky. and se. Mo., s. to Fla. and Tex. Apr., May. (N. microcalyx)
