Ixeris stolonifera

Plants stoloniferous. Aerial stems ± scapiform. Leaf blades 5-30+ × 5-30+ mm, margins often with 1(-2), ± retrorse teeth near bases. Peduncles (1-)5-15+ cm. Involucres 8-10 mm. Cypselae 6 mm; pappi 4-7 mm. 2n = 16, 24.

Flowering Jun-Aug. Disturbed sites; 0-100 m; introduced; Del., N.J., N.Y., Pa.; Asia (Japan).

The combination Lactuca stolonifera has been mistakenly attributed to '(A. Gray) Bentham & Hooker f.'

Delicate, creeping, glabrous perennial; lvs petiolate, with broadly elliptic to orbicular, entire or obscurely toothed blade 0.5-3 cm; heads solitary or paired on peduncles ca 1 dm or less; invol 7-12 mm; fls yellow; achenes reddish-brown, moderately compressed, 4-6 mm, the slender beak about equal to the body; 2n=24. A weed in lawns; native of Japan, occasionally intr. in e. U.S., as in Del., Pa., and N.Y. June-Aug. (Lactuca s.)
