Similar to no. 1 [Parthenium integrifolium L.], but the stem and to a lesser extent the lvs coarsely spreading-hairy; cauline lvs ±auriculate-clasping. Dry woods and old fields; mts. and piedmont from n. Va. and adj. W.Va. to N.C. and Tenn. May-July.
