Leaves: petioles slender; blades 3-nerved, linear to narrowly oblanceolate or spatulate, 17-90 × (1.5-)3-7(-12) mm, bases attenuate, margins ciliolate, faces glabrous, gland-dotted, viscid. Heads 1-2(-4). 2n = 18. Flowering mid spring; fruiting early summer. High plains grasslands and badlands, sagebrush steppe, pinyon-juniper woodlands, sandstone and limestone soils; 700-2700 m; Sask.; Ariz., Colo., Kans., Mont., Nebr., N.Mex., N.Dak., S.Dak., Utah, Wyo.
