Much like no. 3 [Hypoxis hirsuta (L.) Coville], but with shorter, 3-nerved lvs only 1-3 mm wide; fr 4-8 mm, containing several brown seeds covered with low, blunt projections. Sandy soil in woods, chiefly on the coastal plain; se. Va. to Tex. and Cuba. May-July.
