Fayla C. Schwartz in Flora of North America (vol. 26)
Plants 4.5-8.5 dm, from bulbs; bulbs not clumped, tunicate, narrowly ovoid. Leaves: proximal blades 25-45 cm × 10-20 mm. Inflorescences racemose, occasionally paniculate, 10-30-flowered, with 1-3 branches. Flowers nodding; perianth perigynous, campanulate, 8-20 mm diam.; tepals greenish, often tinged with purple, ovate to elliptic, 12-16 × 7-9 mm, somewhat narrowed at base; gland 1, obcordate, thick; pedicel recurved at anthesis, erect in fruit, bracts often tinged with purple or red, longer than pedicel, apex acute. Capsules 12-15 mm. 2n = 32.

Flowering Aug--Sep. Mixed coniferous and spruce-fir forests of Mogollon Mountains; 2500--3200 m; N.Mex.

Zigadenus mogollonensis seems morphologically most similar to 13. Z. virescens and Z. volcanicus Bentham, a species from Guatemala.
