Similar to no. 5 [Gnaphalium obtusifolium L.], less common, avg a little smaller; stem glandular- hairy, becoming woolly in the infl; lvs woolly beneath, ±glandular-hairy above, the hairs shorter and sparser than those of the stem. Dry, commonly sandy soil, often in woods; Me. to Ga., w. to Ind., Ark., and Tex. Aug.-Oct.
