Receptacular paleae 5-7+ mm. Ray corolla laminae 8-14+ mm. Disc corollas 4-5 mm. Cypselae 4-5 mm. 2n = 30 (from India).
Flowering summer-fall. Disturbed sites; 10-200+ m; introduced; Ont.; Ark., Calif., Conn., Fla., Ill., Kans., Md., Mass., Mich., N.Y., Ohio, Pa., Tenn., Va.; Africa; also introduced in Asia.
In the flora area, Guizotia abyssinica has been recorded sporadically at widely scattered stations (evidently often from birdseed wastes); it may be persistently established at relatively few stations.
Scabrous or subglabrous annual to 1 m; lvs sessile and clasping, lance-oblong, acuminate, serrate, to 10 נ3 cm; heads several or many, the disk 1.5 cm wide; outer invol bracts ca 5, ovate or obovate; rays 8-13, broad, 1.5-2 cm; 2n=30. Native of trop. Afr., occasionally adventive in waste places in our range. Sept., Oct.
