Climbing or trailing perennial to 1 m, minutely pubescent; stipules lanceolate, 2-4 mm, striate; lfls oblong to elliptic or ovate, 3-6 cm; fls 1-4 in a short-peduncled raceme, violet, 2-3 cm; bractlets ovate, striate, 8-12 mm, much surpassing the cal-tube; cal-lobes linear, 6-12 mm; fr flat, 7-12 cm × 4 mm, the persistent style 2-2.5 cm; 2n=18.
