Perennial; stems glabrous, 1-3 dm, not much branched; lvs sessile by a broad base, linear to narrowly lanceolate, thick, 0.8-1.5 cm, obscurely 1-nerved, bearing 1-3 thick glandular- callous teeth on each side above the middle; pedicels 8-12 mm, minutely glandular; bractlets usually none; sep thick, narrowly linear, 3-5 mm; cor 10-12 mm, yellow with white lobes; fr much shorter than the sep; 2n=14. Moist or wet places in pine-barrens on the coastal plain; Md. to Fla. and La. Summer.
