Annual 3-5 dm, with ovate or lance-ovate lvs tapering to the base and with long spikes of small white fls; fruiting cal 7-9 mm; 2n=48. Native of trop. Asia and Afr., established as a weed in trop. Amer., and occasionally escaped in our range.
