Plants 5-10 dm, puberulent above; lower lvs long- petioled, ovate, the ultimate segments narrowly ovate to linear-oblong, each usually with a few sharp teeth; rays 10-20, scaberulous on the upper side; pedicels 3-5 mm, fr elliptic or oblong, 6-8 mm, depressed in the center over the dorsal ribs; 2n=22. In a prairie habitat in a few of the northwestern counties. Also found by Dr. Clapp in the "barrens west of the lake" (Harrison County, southwest of Palmyra). His specimen is in the herbarium of Wabash College. Rare.
