Duration: Perennial Nativity: Native Lifeform: Forb/Herb General: Stout perennial to 1 m tall, with densely hairy stems that only rarely branch above; plants with milky sap. Leaves: Dark green leaves are opposite and oblong to oval and covered above with dense hairs and prominent yellow mid-veins. Flowers: Umbels emerge from the uppermost nodes; flowers moderately large and greenish to yellowish-cream, while flushed with rose. Fruits: Produces upright pods that are densely hairy and fat, tapering to a tip, these 3-9 cm in length. Ecology: Found in variable habitats, including dry rocky areas, along roadsides and other disturbed areas, and stream banks, from 500 to 8,000 ft (152-2438 m); flowers May through October.
