Flowering stems very slender, mostly erect and unbranched, lfless or with a few remote scale-lvs only; spikes emersed, 2-5 cm; bracts all or chiefly alternate, oblong to obovate, entire, shorter than to slightly exceeding the fls; mericarps rounded on the back and at base, minutely granular, 1 mm. 2n=14.
