Infrequent throughout the state. It is usually found in moist, sandy soil along streams, about ponds, in old logging roads, and along moist roadsides. Panicum Tuckermani Fern. is a closely allied species which I am not able to separate from Panicum Gattingeri. Some of my specimens have been named for me as Panicum Tuckermani, but I am referring them to Panicum Gattingeri until satisfactory characters are found to separate them.
