Lvs 6-9 cm, 2.2-4 times as long as wide, cuneate at base, with 3-5 veins on a side, the lower surface usually whitish-papillose and with mainly or wholly appressed, whitish to only occasionally rusty pubescence. Chiefly northern and western, from Me. and s. Que. to Minn., s. to N.Y., Ky., Ind., Ill., Ark., and Okla. (C. obliqua; C. purpusii)
