Lvs mostly more than half as long as the stems, scabrous, delicately wiry-capillary, 0.3-0.6 mm wide, with 3 large and 0-4 small veins but only one distinct rib, the sclerenchyma forming a ±continuous ring; infl very slender; spikelets small, the first glume 1.1-2.1 mm, the second 1.8-3 mm, the lemmas mostly 2.3-4 mm and awnless; anthers 1.5-2.5 mm; 2n=14, 28; otherwise much like spp. 8-10. A European weed intr. into lawns and waste places from Nf. to N.C., Ill., and Minn. (F. tenuifolia; F. capillata; F. ovina var. c.)
