High-climbing woody vine; lvs ovate or ovate- oblong, to 15 cm, acute or acuminate, truncate or subcordate at base; lower spikes axillary, the upper forming a loose, leafless panicle; pedicels 5-10 mm, jointed at the lower third, dilated above; perianth 3-4 mm at anthesis; fr brown, 2.5-3.5 cm נ4-8 mm, corky, the coriaceous tep connivent; achene 8-10 mm, roundly trigonous below, sharply so toward the acuminate tip; 2n=48.
