Leaves: usually somewhat lobed or wavy but ranging from those of one parent to the other. Characteristics: intermediate of the parents.

Similar species: Quercus x leana is a hybrid of Quercus velutina and Quercus imbricaria. The attributes of the hybrid tend to be intermediate of the parents. See links below for further information on the parents.

Etymology: Quercus is the Latin name for oak.

This seems to be a hybrid between Quercus imbricaria and Quercus velutina. I collected it in Lawrence County and Lake County. I also have a specimen collected by Ralph M. Kriebel from a tree in Lawrence County. Recently Kriebel has collected it in Knox County.
