The Morton Arboretum
Leaves: range from those of one parent to the other, usually with a broad cleft below the middle and some hairs on the lower surface. Fruit: an acorn, cup deeper than that of Quercus alba, sometimes with marginal fringes like Quercus macrocarpa. Characteristics: tend to be intermediate of the parents.

Similar species: Quercus x bebbiana is a hybrid of Quercus alba and Quercus macrocarpa. The attributes of the hybrid tend to be intermediate of the parents. See links below for further information on the parents.

Habitat and ecology: Degraded woodlands, usually where both parents are found.

Occurence in the Chicago region: native

Etymology: Quercus is the Latin name for oak. Bebbiana is named after Michael Schuck Bebb, a 19th century American botanist specializing in willows.
