Family: Apocynaceae Few-Flower Milkweed [Asclepias paupercula Michx.] Mary Keim	Gleason & Cronquist Resources Vascular plants of NE US and adjacent Canada Stems slender, often 1 m, simple, with a few pairs of elongate, linear or narrowly lanceolate lvs separated by internodes 1-2 dm; umbels 1-4, terminal or subterminal, loosely few-fld; cor red to orange-red or reddish-purple, its lobes 9-12 mm; hoods 5-7 mm, much exceeding the gynostegium, the lateral margins with a small tooth below the middle; horns subulate, incurved; fr erect on deflexed pedicels.
