Lvs with more than 15 cilia per 0.5 cm of margin; florets 8-10 mm; lemmas 3- or 5-nerved, glabrous to scabrous or hispidulous with hairs to 0.2 mm; anthers to 4 mm. Relatively northern, s. to Pa., W.Va., O., and Mich. (var. septentrionale)
