Frequent in the lake area in sloughs and sphagnum bogs and on lake borders. Like the preceding species [Carex pellita], it often forms large colonies. No specimen could be found to substantiate Schneck's report from the Lower Wabash Valley, an area far south of the normal range of C. lasiocarpa.
