Thinly strigose or subglabrous, leafy perennial, 2-5 dm, the stems branched, clustered on a stout root or branched crown; stipules connate; lfls 11-21, narrow, 1-2 cm; racemes numerous, short-peduncled, loose, 2-6 cm, with 4-20 ochroleucous fls 6-9 mm; cal-tube 2-2.5 mm, the subulate lobes 1-2.5 mm; fr drooping, compressed, oblong, glabrous, 1-1.5 cm, on a stipe to 7 mm; 2n=24.
