Stems
(1-)2-6+, usually canescent, rarely glabrescent.
Leaf blades:
margins usually serrate-dentate, sometimes deeply dissected, midribs winged.
Flowering mid May-mid Jun. Dry disturbed sites, roadsides, wooded areas, dry or drying streambeds; 200-1700 m; Calif., Oreg.
Variety
eurycephala
evidently reproduces extensively from creeping rootstocks. Some specimens from Butte, Plumas, and Yuba counties lack lobed leaves.
