Leaves are clustered to remote, 1 to 3 cm long, entire, pinnate, or rarely dichotomous. Petiole not articulate, usually smooth when mature, with paleae at base that are often hairy and glandular. Sori usually elongate, originating on a vein, covered by an indusium. Sporangia usually long- stalked, homosporous, spores lacking cholorphyll.
