Stems less than 1.2 mm wide, margins denticulate. Spathes: keels denticulate; outer less than 2 times inner, basally connate 5-6 mm. Outer tepals 10-17 mm; filaments pale blue to deep violet or purple. 2n = 64.

Flowering late spring--early summer. Moist to dry, gravelly prairies, open, grassy areas; 0--800 m; B.C.; Wash.
