Leaves 3-13 × 1-2.8 cm; blade bright green, elliptic to lanceolate. Scape 4-7 dm. Flowers: perianth white to creamy white, sometimes tipped with orange or pinkish orange, campanulate or obovoid, 7-11 mm, lobes turned slightly inward (see note under 4. Aletris lutea). Fruits: beaks abruptly narrowed distally. 2n = 26.
Flowering late spring--mid summer. Moist pine flatwoods and savannas, roadside ditches; 0--100 m; Ala., Fla., Ga., Miss., S.C.
