Flowering Jun-Sep. Clay hills and outcrops, manzanita communities, conifer woodlands; of conservation concern; 90-200 m; Calif.

Variety prostratum is federally listed as endangered. It is known from three sites that together constitute less than one acre north of Ione in Amador County.
