Coarse, densely white-woolly biennial 3-10 dm; lvs lanceolate to oblong, 4-10 cm, conspicuously serrate; verticils several, many-fld, the sharp cal-lobes distinctly protruding from the dense pubescence; cor red, 15-20 mm; 2n=30. Native of Europe, rarely intr. in our range. June-Aug.
