Much like no. 8 [Calamagrostis porteri A. Gray]; culms stouter; blades weakly scabrous, to 12 mm wide, light green and glaucous on both sides, the collar glabrous; 2n=56. Dry rocky woods; local in s. O. (Jackson Co.) and apparently also in s. Mo.
