Much like no. 5 [Euthamia gymnospermoides Greene], but with smaller heads, and with some tendency to develop axillary fascicles of lvs, the lvs often narrower and the heads often more evidently pedunculate; invol 3.5-4.5(-5) mm; 2n=18. Moist, open, sandy or mucky places, commonly about lake- shores; near the s. end of lakes Erie and Mich., from n. O. to s. Wis. (Solidago r.)
