Cal regular, 4-parted nearly to the base; cor obliquely salverform, the 3 upper lobes about equal, the lower one longer; stamens 2 (the lower pair), inserted at the cor-throat; filaments exsert, thickened at base; pollen-sacs divergent; stigmas 2, divergent; fr globose, enclosed in the cal, rupturing irregularly; small creeping herbs with opposite lvs and minute white fls solitary in the axils. 2-4, New World.
