Basal leaves: blade narrowly oblanceolate, apex acuminate. Cauline leaves: blade lanceolate, apex acuminate or acute. Fruits 3-4.5 mm wide; stigma subentire.

Flowering Jun-Jul. Open chaparral, cypress woodland; 1200-1700 m; Calif.

Variety piutensis is known from the Piute Mountains, Kern County.
