Lvs hairy, often dark-spotted, often purple-veined beneath; outer invol bracts ovate to lanceolate; 2n=40, and probably other nos.; otherwise much like no 3 [Taraxacum officinale F. H. Wigg]. Native of n. and w. Europe, occasionally intr. in moist places in Ont. and N.Y.
