More strictly erect and more branching below; lvs ovate to broadly ovate, short-acuminate, doubly serrate, cordate or subcordate (seldom merely truncate) at base, ±pubescent beneath; fruiting catkins longer, avg 5 cm; pistillate scales 5.6-8.7 נ4-5.4 mm, the lateral lobes ascending, scarcely dilated, the middle lobe somewhat prolonged and oblong; frs 4.1-6.7 mm wide, the body 1.2-2 mm wide; 2n=48 (42, 56).
