Rosettes each with 100-200 leaves at maturity, light green, flat-topped. Leaves (3-)9-20(-27) × 0.5-1.2 cm; margins denticulate below mid leaf. Flowers 1.6-2.1 cm; limb lobes 6.5-7 mm; filaments 1.1-1.3 cm; ovary 0.8-1.2 cm. 2n = 60.

Flowering late spring. Open gravelly to rocky limestone or basalt slopes, mostly with desert scrub, chaparral, and pinyon-juniper woodlands; 800--1700 m; Ariz.

LEAVES: numerous, 100 or more, (3-)9-20(-27) cm long, 0.6-1.2 cm wide, of equal length giving rosette a flat-topped appearance, the margins with a brown border replaced by small teeth ½ to  down leaf towards base. FLOWERS: 16-21 mm long; tepals 6.5-7 mm long, 2.5-3 mm wide; filaments 11-13 mm long; ovary 8-12 mm long with neck 2-6 mm long. 2n = 60. NOTES: See also parent taxon. Open rocky, often limestone or basalt slopes of desert scrub, chaparral, and pinon-juniper woodland: Gila, Maricopa, Yavapai cos.; 800-1700 m (2700-5600 ft); May-Jun.
