Plants perennial; roots tuberous. Stems erect, 20-80cm tall, lightly to densely pubescent. Leaves cauline, sessile; blades linear, the tip acute, the base attenuate, the margins minutely toothed. Flowers plainly secund and deflexed; pedicels 2-4 mm, pubescent; hypanthium 1-2 mm long; nectar spurs absent; calyx lobes 2-3.5 mm, reflexed, toothed along edges; corollas lavender to blue, the tube 3-4.5 mm long, with dorsal slit, with lateral “windows” near base; staminal column 4-5 mm, the five anthers with stiff bristles at tips. Fruit about 2/3 inferior, ascending, 2-3 mm long. Seeds ovoid and faintly lined. Editor: I. Andrade-Munoz 2024


Habitat: Common in moist pine-oak forests, in ravines along streams, on slopes, and on volcanic sands and decaying organic matter. 1200-2300 m in elevation.


Distribution: Jalisco, Michoacan


Plantas perennes; raízes tuberosas. Tallo erecto, 20-80cm de altura, ligeramente a densamente pubescentes. Hojas caulinares, sésiles; láminas lineares, los márgenes finamente dentados, la punta aguda, la base atenuada. Flores deflexas y para un lado del tallo; pedicelos 2-4 mm de largo, pubescentes; hipanto 1-2 mm de largo; esponoles de néctar ausentes; lobulos del caliz 2-3.5 mm, reflejados, con dientes a los márgenes; corolas de color morado-azul, el tubo 3-4.5mm de largo, con raja dorsal, con “ventanas” laterales cerca de la base; tubo estaminal 4-5 mm, todas 5 antares con pelos erizados. Fruto aproximadamente ⅔ inferior, ascendiendo, 2-3 mm de largo. Semillas ovoides y con rayas. Editora: I. Andrade-Munoz 2024


Hábitat: Común en bosques de pino-encino húmedos, en barrancas cerca de arroyos, en colinas empinadas. Pueden crecer en arenas volcánicas y en materia orgánica.


Distribución: Jalisco, Michoacan
