Fls perfect; sep and pet each 4 or 5; stamens 8 or 10; ovary 4- or 5- locular and -lobed, with several axile ovules in each locule; style 1; fr a lobate loculicidal capsule; perennial herbs or half-shrubs, strongly glandular-punctate and heavily scented, with alternate, simple to bipinnatifid lvs and small fls in ample paniculiform cymes, terminal and from the upper axils. 60, Eurasia and N.
