Bulbs without basal bulbels, 1.8-2.5 × 1.2-2 cm; inner coat cells obscure, ± regular. Leaves 3-6; blade 1-5 mm wide, margins entire or denticulate. Scape usually solitary, 20-50 cm. Umbel 10-50-flowered, producing capsules and seeds, bulbils almost unknown; spathe bracts usually 3, ovate to lanceolate. Flowers fragrant, 4-7 mm; tepals spreading, white (rarely pink), thin; pedicel linear, stout, becoming subequal, 10-20 mm. 2n = 14, 21.
Flowering Apr--Jun. Generally in sandy or rocky soils, woods or plains; 50--1100 m; Kans., Nebr., Okla., S.Dak., Tex.
