Plants annual. Stems erect, 15-60 cm, glabrous. Leaves mostly cauline, sessile; blades lanceolate to ovate, the margins coarsely toothed to crenate, the tip acute, the base attenuate. Flowers in terminal raceme, the pedicels 5-10 mm, glabrous; the hypanthium 2-2.5 mm; nectar spurs absent; calyx lobes 3.5 mm, ascending, with minute hairs along the edges; corollas blue with white spots at throat, the tube 4-4.5 mm, split dorsally to the base but without lateral “windows”; staminal column 1.5-3 mm; the two lower anthers with bristles at the tips. Fruit ½ inferior, 5-7 mm long, generally ascending at maturity, sometimes reflexed. Seeds smooth and ellipsoid. Editor: I. AndradeMunoz, 2025.


Habitat: Growing in gravelly soils at 450-1500 m in elevation

Distribution: Coahuila (MX) and Texas (US)


Plantas anuales. Tallos erectos, 15-60 cm, glabros. Hojas generalmente caulinares, sésiles; láminas lanceoladas a ovadas, los márgenes toscamente dentados a crenados, la punta aguda, la base atenuada. Flores en un racimo terminal, los pedicelos 5-10 mm, glabros; el hipanto 2-2,5 mm; espolones de néctar ausentes; lóbulos del cáliz 3,5 mm, ascendentes, con pelos diminutos a lo largo de los bordes; corolas azules con manchas blancas a la garganta, el tubo 4-4,5 mm, con raja dorsal hasta la base pero sin “ventanas” laterales; la columna estaminal 1,5-3 mm; las dos anteras inferiores con cerdas en las puntas.
